A little update.
I left with Marie, Cooper. Jules and Brenda out of NYC on Jan 15th
We spent the first week in Bangkok.
Stayed at a funky little hotel in the Ari district.
Mare, Cooper and I played two gigs when we first arrived.
Mick Maloney, an incredible Irish musician, had a reception for us and
introduced us to some of the Irish players in town.
Marie knows him through Mac Bedford. We had a very informal, fun, fun,
fun gig at the Witches Tavern. A European Pub.
AND Will McCarthy came to hear us. Mick Maloney is a great player, but
what a singer! He doesn't need a microphone.
A gorgeous voice.
The next day Mick set up a performance at St Mercy's hospital. It's an
orphanage founded by Father Joe. He has a book out called '"Welcome to
the Slaughter House"(the name of a ghetto here) Father Joe moved into
the slum just after the Vietnam war, from what I understand. He is
inspiring. He wanted to build a hospital/orphanage and he has done it.
It houses 150 children. He is great man to chat with AND his mother's
maiden name is Burns. Hey, we could be related. The children were so
sweet. Old McDonald was the big hit.....my favorite was watching
Father Joe dance with the kids to "Dance Upon this Earth" with all the
kids laughing.
The neighborhood is so dangerous that it is difficult to get a taxi
there. We managed a taxi there but we had to ride a truck/taxi out of
there. Kinda like a hay ride. a pick up truck with benches in the
back, and poles to hang on to, they are very common here.
I am getting used to them.

I am now on the Island of Koh Chang w/ Jules and Brenda.
It is a less expensive place than Phuket and some of the more popular
islands. We are staying in a beautiful place by the beach.
When we first arrived we were headed for a place we had scene online.
Oh my Goddess....it was like Deer Hunter meets GrassRoots Fest vendors
with wild dogs and roosters after 5 days of rain!!!
I was trying to act tough but luckily Brenda wanted out of there!! yay!
I didn't have to be the wimp.
We ended up at THE SEA VIEW RESORT AND SPA...until Feb 8th soooo
Now you know where I am.

Thailand. Breathtaking. Glad I made the trip.
